William died in  1836 in Elizabethtown (now Brockville), Leeds County, Ontario.

William Adams

     
George III ruled Great Britain from October 25, 1760 to January 29, 1820.

William Samuel Adams was born about 1756 in Newtown, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of Samuel Adams and Martha Curtis.

He married Catherine Snyder the daughter of William Snyder and Ruth Crandall.

Catherine and William's children included:
Catherine Adams (1782),
Elijah Adams (1785, married Sarah Howard), and
Esther Adams (1789).

Catherine died in 1795 and he married Philena Hinds. Philena was the daughter of Jacob Hinds.

Johnstown District and for the District of Johnstown on Tuesday the eighteenth day of February in the Forty- sixth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third

William S. Adams of Augusta Innkeeper acknowledges to owe to Our Sovereign Lord the King the sum of ten pounds, Michael Row and Roswell Everts each acknowledge to owe to Our Sovereign Lord the King the sum of five pounds, upon condition that the said William S. Adams shall suffer no unlawful games, drunkenness, or any other disorder, to be used or committed in his house for one year from the fifth day of January last, but shall maintain and keep good order and rule within the same according to law, then the recognizance to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

Brockville, Ontario was called Elizabethtown. The area was first settled by English speakers in 1785, when Americans who had remained loyal to the crown fled to Canada after the American Revolution.
